Future GPX Cyber Formula is a 37-episode anime television series by Sunrise. It originally aired in Japan between 1991-03-15 and 1991-12-20. It was followed by 4 more OVA sequels up to 2000, making it one of longest running original anime franchises that was not originated from a manga or novel. Directed by Mitsuo Fukuda (Gear Fighter Dendoh and Gundam Seed), Cyber Formula is a show about Formula racing in the future, when race cars are equipped with computer support systems called 'Cyber Systems'.
So, yeah, the series is old. However, this is one of those series that actually stands the test of time. I actually did not watch the OVA until 2008, and I am so happy I finally catch up with all of them. In any case, here is an super discounted item I got from Hong Kong Toy Festival back in 2007. It is quitely sitting in the garage until a few weeks ago :)
For 22 USD, this is a steal.
I actually break one of the corner of the display case at the back. Actually, the materials are built to break when you try to open it... but then, I am not complaining for 180 HKD.
The item is actually a completed model. It is called "Cyber formula AKF-0/1B Nemesis Special Driver:Yuki Rena".

The paint job is actually quite good. It is a clean finish with no weather. It fits well with the anime look.
Now, what can be better than the race car?
How about the race car plus the main female character in the anime?
