Monterey Bay, California
I love Monterey Bay. I go there almost every year (or twice a year) since 1998. The scenes are beautiful and food are good. We kind of slow down of visiting there since my wife wants something new. There is also a Moterery music box store where I bought one piece of snoopy thing back every time. Anyway, Monterey Bay is a bay of the Pacific Ocean, south of San Francisco between the cities of Santa Cruz and Monterey. The roughly semicircular bay is ringed by a segment of State Route 1. You can drive around in High way 1 and really enjoy the beautiful surrounding. Also, you can hit up 17 miles while you are at the bay.
These are pictures back in 2004. Here is the main "street" to fisherman wharf. You can keep trying different types of clam chowder soap until you are kind of full. Then, go for the real lunch or dinner.
There is also a show outside of the musuem on that day. The Monterey Bay Area, or sometimes just The Bay Area, are local colloquialisms sometimes used to describe the whole of the coastal communities of Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.
Here is the guy in the original "great race".
I was probably not born at the time of the movie ... so don't really know him. But a lot of people cheer for him.
More classic cars.
Monterey Bay is home to many species of marine mammals, including sea otters, harbor seals, and bottlenose dolphins; as well as being on the migratory path of Gray and Humpback Whales and a breeding site for elephant seals. Many species of fish, sharks, mollusks such as abalone and squid, birds, and sea turtles also live in the bay. Several varieties of kelp grow in the bay, some becoming as tall as trees, forming what is known as a kelp forest.
After the wharf, you can drive a little and swing by 17 miles.
The Monterey Canyon, one of the largest underwater canyons in the world, begins off the coast of Moss Landing, exactly in the center of Monterey Bay.
In 1992 the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary was created, protecting over 4,000 square nautical miles (14,000 km²) of the bay and the surrounding ocean.
